Friending your boss online?... BE CAREFUL!
Give a quick read of the image below from a post on Facebook of a woman complaining about her job and her boss:

As social networking online grows, you might forget just who you’ve “friended” or who you’ve allowed to “follow” you so you better be sure to either:
1. Don’t say anything online that you wouldn’t say to your boss/mother.
Or…
2. Draw clear and distinct lines between work/family and play.
Also, be crystal clear on what your company’s specific policies are toward your online activities while at work. Some companies encourage their employees to be active online while most others view such networking as time sink holes and strictly forbid it. And sometimes, when the rules a vague enough to where you don’t know what you can and can’t do online while at work, err on the side of caution since behind a company firewall, everything is monitored.
Know the rules before you play the game.
This might even come down to creating different profiles for different situations… a “work/family profile” in addition to a “friend profile” where you separate these two aspects of your social networking online.
Will it be a pain to have to update two different accounts? Sure it will.
Is it worth losing your job over it? That’s up to you…
Hat tip to The Next Web for the image.
